Edson Ray Stiverson, age 68, of Graford, Texas and formerly of Celina, Ohio passed away at 3:23p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 21, 2016 at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, Ohio. He was born on May 4, 1948 in Celina, Ohio to Fay and Alberta June (Hoel) Stiverson. Survivors include his mother Alberta June (Hoel) Stiverson of Celina, brother Cecil (Karla) Stiverson of Celina sister Dawn Yates of Celina, sister-in-law Angela Stiverson of South Bend, IN, former wife Sandra Sue (Evans) Stiverson of Waco Texas and several Nieces and Nephews. Edson was preceded in death by his father Fay Stiverson, and his daughter Natasha Kolleen Stiverson, brother and sister-in-law John and Gail Stiverson, a brother-in-law Ray Yates, a niece Onna Marie Feece and a great nephew Porter Edson Fay Stiverson. He graduated from Celina High School with the Class of 1966. He served his country in the U. S. Army, during the Vietnam War, as a Captain and a Helicopter Pilot having served two tours from 1968-1969. He received an Air Man’s Medal and was the recipient of a Silver Star for his service to his country during the Vietnam War. Edson was employed at Can-Tex in Mineral Wells, TX. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association. He was a naturalist and loved being close to nature. He enjoyed hunting, reloading rounds, fishing and welding. The Stiverson family would like to thank all of the caregivers from Kindred Hospice, State of the Heart Hospice and special friend Ben Raines for all of their assistance and support in caring for Edson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00p.m. on Saturday Sept. 24, 2016 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Bruce Head officiating. A private family committal services will be held in North Grove Cemetery at a later time. Friends may call from 2-3p.m at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice of Marion, Ohio or State of the Heart Hospice in Mercer County. Condolences may be left at LehmanDzendzelFH.com.
