Betty Ann Kable Petrie, 86, Celina, died peacefully at home on December 23, 2014, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Rockford, Ohio, on April 10, 1928, to Rudy Kable and Neva (Buckey) Kable. On August 26, 1952, she married D. Wayne Petrie who died May 4, 1998.
Betty leaves behind five children, Kim (David) Jeffery of Girard, Pennsylvania, Clark (LuAnne) Petrie of Colts Neck, New Jersey, Eric (Mary Schulz) Petrie of Lansing, Michigan, Brett (Lynette) Petrie of Austin, Texas, and Leigh (Gerry) Limpic of San Diego, California. Betty also had 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her cousin, Dola Smith, her sister-in-law Micheline Petrie, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bruce Kable, and her husband Wayne.
Betty graduated from Celina High School in 1946 and briefly worked for the Celina Mutual Insurance Company. She became a licensed pilot and owned her own plane before she had a car. After her marriage, she and her family lived in Arizona, Illinois, New York, California, and Nevada. After Wayne's death in 1998, she moved back to Celina.
Betty was a homemaker and was devoted to her family and the St. John Lutheran church. She helped with Bible studies, visitation, and the prayer chain. She enjoyed counted cross stitch needlework and created elaborate gifts for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday Dec. 27, 2014 at the St. John Lutheran Church, with Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow services in the Swamp College Cemetery in Celina. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30a.m. on Saturday at the Church. The Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church. On-Line Condolences may be left at LHDfuneralhome.com.
