Daniel J. Piper, age 75 of 601 North Buckeye St. passed away at 11:48p.m. on Sunday June 1, 2014 at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. He was born on July 10, 1938 in Pittston, PA., to Hubert & Mary (Jordan) Piper. On July 8, 1961 he married Sue Raudenbush, who lives in Celina. Also surviving is his father Hubert Piper of Polson, Montana, son & daughter-in-law Shawn & Christine Piper of Westerville, daughter & son-in-law Jennifer & Ronald Kuhn of Celina, six grandchildren Nicholas Piper, Alex Adams, Natalie & Joe Piper-Mustard, Madison Kuhn, Jenna Kuhn, Grant Piper, three great grandchildren Piper Adelle Mustard, Jaxson Mustard, Zayden Kuhn, sisters Madeline Piper of Boston, Helen Miller of Huntsville, AL, Mary Rasberry of Polson, Montana, sister-in-law Phyllis Nash of Celina and several nieces and Nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his Mother Mary (Jordan) Piper, sister & brothers-in-law Elizabeth & Chester Fetters, Stan Miller, John Rasberry and William Nash. Dan graduated from Celina High School with the Class of 1956 and graduated from Barber College in Chicago. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Communications Technician 3rd Class in Japan for three years. Dan was formerly employed at International Harvester in Ft. Wayne and Owned a Barber Shop in Convoy, Ohio. He retired from the State of Ohio Department of Correctional Institution in Lima. He was the Chief Union Steward for the Ohio State Department of Corrections and an avid member of the Crestview Booster Club. He sponsored the Convoy Browns Girls Softball Team while in Convoy for several years. His passion was woodworking. A Memorial services will be held at 5:00p.m. on Thursday June 5, 2014 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Gramza officiating. Burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour before services at the funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Builders. On-Line condolences may be left at LHDfuneralhome.com.
