Evelyn L. Donovan, age 95, formerly of Celina, Ohio passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Monday Jan 6, 2014 at the Swiss Village in Berne, IN. She was born on Dec. 10, 1918 in Chattanooga, Ohio to the late Phillip & Mary (Brehm) Strabel. On June 22, 1940 she married Clarence Donovan, who died Nov. 1, 2003. She is survived by her son & daughters-in-law James & Elaine Donovan of Cecil, Jamet Donovan of Mendon, five daughters & sons-in-law Patricia Reynolds of Brunswick, Carol & Lester Etzler of Wilshire, Kathleen & Robert Schwartz of Decatur, IN, Joann & Michael Valentine of Rockford, Cindy & Steve Bronson of Warrenton, VA, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Daniel Donovan, son -in- law Leon Reynolds, sister Reatta Fickert. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rockford and a former member of the Celina Senior Citizens. She was formerly employed at Tuway in Rockford and retired from Findley Industries in Ohio City. Evelyn was known for her quilts and her gardens, everyone remembers her monster strawberry and her onions. She was a dairy farmer, loved her family, bingo and playing cards. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 11, 2014 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-11 at the Funeral Home on Saturday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
