James R. Hone, age 82 of Celina, Ohio passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 31, 2014 at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. He was born on Sept. 29, 1932 in Celina, Ohio to the late Russell & Velma (Smith) Hone. On Dec. 22, 1956 he married Donna L. Baker, who survives. Also surviving are his children Thomas (Carol) Hone of Celina, Leigh (Larry) Wolkan of Delaware, Barry (Kelly) Hone of Celina, Carrie (Bruce) McDaniel of Portage, a daughter-in-law Tamara Hone-Lutz of Hilliard, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his in-laws Cheryl (Vern) Hamrick of Willshire, Tom (Carolyn) Baker of Celina, Al (Charlotte) Baker of Celina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his son Don A. Hone, who died in 1994 during his active duty with the United States Navy Special Forces, his sister Carol J. Hone, his In-laws Leo (Mary) Baker and Don (Marti-Chapin) Baker. He graduated from the Celina High School with the Class of 1950. Then he proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee during the Korean Conflict. He formally trained in Architectural Design at the University of Cincinnati and over the course of more than 30 years he designed, built, or remodeled many homes, restaurants, and offices. Jim worked in the construction trade and partnered with his father in the Hone Construction Company most of his adult life. He was also a Co-Owner of Celina Home Finishing Supplies and unbeknownst to many, designed the lighthouse which graces the North West Shore of Grand Lake in Celina. He was a Celina Rotary Member, a member of MENSA for many years, he was a certified rifle instructor with the N.R.A. and was a competition shooter, Mercer County Sportsman Association, he was also a member of the Celina First Presbyterian Church and actively served on various committess and he served as a Board Member of the Mercer County District Library. Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Monday Jan. 5, 2015 at the Celina First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Bruce McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Swamp College Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors. Friends may call from 2-8p.m. on Sunday Jan 4, 2015 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina and one hour before services at the Church on Monday.
