Junior Lee Robbins, 86, passed away on August 26, 2017 at Otterbein in St. Marys. He was born on October 18, 1930 in Celina to the late Harry and Salome (Schmidt) Robbins. On December 7, 1952 he married Helen Marie Huddlestun who preceded him in death on May 20, 2014. Junior is survived by his children Kathy Wilburn of Ventura, CA, Mike (Traci) Robbins of Celina and Peg Bunnell of Columbus, his grandchildren Naomi (nee Bunnell) Haseman, Allan (Jessica) Bunnell, Josh (Morgan) Bunnell, Bryan Robbins and Dillon Robbins, and his great grandchildren Noah Haseman, Riley Bunnell and Ryan Bunnell, sister Doris Severns of Mendon and sister-in-law Dolores Robbins of Celina. He was also preceded in death by grandson Adam Robbins and son-in-law Pete Bunnell, sister Evon Robbins, brother Lloyd Robbins, sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Bill Hawkey and brother-in-law Joe Severns. Junior graduated from Celina High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. He worked for his dad at Robbins Leather Goods Store repairing shoes and sometimes assisted his father-in-law on his summer paint jobs between his shifts as a fireman. He retired as chief after 27 ½ years of service from the Celina Fire Department in 1978. He then worked at Ringles Plating Corporation until 1993. Most of Junior's retirement years were spent volunteering, fishing, reading and snowblowing driveways and sidewalks for the neighbors. He was a member of the Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, the Celina VFW Post #5713, Celina Masonic Blue Lodge #241 F&AM and the Royal Arts Masonic Post High Priest Chapter #51. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated for Otterbein St. Marys, Grand Lake UM Church or a charity important to the giver. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, Rev. Mick Whistler officiating. Burial will follow in Mercer Memory Gardens with Military Honors. Friends may call an hour before services at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at LehmanDzendzelFH.com.
