Leo H. Knapke, 101, of Celina, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Saturday July 22, 2017 at Celina Manor. He was born in Chickasaw, OH on July 22, 1916 to John & Anna (Bruns) Knapke who preceded him in death. On November 26, 1949 he married Rita R. Reineke and she passed away on June 29, 2000. Survivors include 2 sons; Tim (Elaine) Knapke, Tom (Jill) Knapke, a daughter-in-law Deb Knapke of all of Celina, 3 grandchildren, Katie Seiler, Tracie Adams, Kahl Knapke, a great-grandson Owen Seiler, 3 sisters Matilda Elking, Mary Ann Klosterman, Florentine Moeller and a brother Robert (Ginny) Knapke. He was preceded in death by a son, Nick Knapke, 4 sisters Armella Rawers, Olive Miller, Agnes Hemmelgarn, Hilda Brunswick and 2 brothers Norbert and Paul Knapke. He retired after 40 years of service with Mersman Tables of Celina. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday July 26, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina with Father Kenneth Schnipke C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina.
