Lois Jean Laidig, age 90 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Dec. 24, 2016 at the Van Wert Impatient Hospice Center. She was born on March 23, 1926 in Batavia, IL., to the late Arthur and Edith (Petersen) Read. Survivors include her children: Jeffrey (Susan) Ingraham of Celina, OH., Lynn Mae (Robert) Myers of Georgetown, KY., Bethany R. (David) Hoffman of Grand Junction, CO., step daughter Gayle (Bradley) Keech of Niles, OH., six grandchildren: Elizabeth (Mike) Rumschlag, Emily (Keith) Allen, Barrett Myers, Bryce (Brooke) Myers, Lillian (Kana) Dinkins, Benjamin Hoffman and fiancée Kelsey Deery, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin C. Ingraham, Raymond H. Laidig, her two brothers, Warren, Alan; and her sister, Ruth. Lois graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1944, and then earned her nursing diploma from the Copley Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating, she worked as a school nurse and later as a public health nurse. She attended Grand Lake United Methodist Church and was a member of the Sunshine Singers in Celina. She maintained her membership at the First Christian Church in Newton Falls, OH. Lois most enjoyed being a homemaker, a mom, a grandmother, and a friend. She was talented at sewing and crocheting and created numerous cherished gifts for her family. She always had time to stitch love into every project. She was best at simple conversation and making those she came into contact with feel listened to and important. Lois was quick to offer an encouraging word, and lived out her faith in these day to day encounters. She never lost her heart to be a care giver and serve others. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday Dec. 27, 2016, at Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, with Rev. Matt Reynolds officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Lake United Methodist Church "Revive Ohio" fund.
