April 4, 1916 – November 2, 2014
W.G. (Ray) Eblen age 98, of Celina, Ohio passed away at 3:02a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at home. He was born on April 4, 1916 in Macedon, Ohio to the late George I. and Rose (Teeters) Eblen. On July 4, 1936 he married Margaret McGriff, who died on July 3, 1975. On Nov. 13, 1976 he married Pauline Bradford-Marbaugh, who died on Feb. 25, 2005. Survivors include his son & daughters-in-law Doug & Judy Eblen of Celina, Patricia & Doyle Wheeler of Amarillo, TX, fifteen grandchildren & eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, step sons & daughters-in-law Bill & Doris Marbaugh of Celina, step daughters & sons-in-law Janet Cornish of St. Louis, MO., Elizabeth & Bill Stranges of Columbus, thirteen step grandchildren eighteen step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren . Ray was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Eblen , sons Richard Eblen and Raymond "Keith" & Betty Eblen, step son Allan Marbaugh, son-in-law Norman Cornish, two grandchildren Mary Eblen, Rick Marbaugh and four sister and brothers-in-law Iva & Bill Martens, Minnie & Louis Tangeman, Fern & Arlie Lime and Mildred & Sylvester Braun. Ray graduated from Celina High School with the Class of 1934 and he was employed at Mersman Brothers Furniture Factory from 1934-1937. He was Co-Owner of the Eblen Ice Company from 1937 until 1953, when the business was sold. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1981 he retired as the Chief Deputy for the Mercer County Engineers and was elected as a Jefferson Township Trustee for two terms. Raymond was a member of the Celina American Legion Post #210, the Archaeologist Society of Ohio, Mercer County Sportsman Association and the Mercer County Historical Society. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday Nov. 5, 2014 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Richard Van Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Swamp college Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 4, 2014 at the funeral home, with American Legion membership services at 7:00p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Home Health & Hospice.
