Marvin R. Hoenie, age 81, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Laurels of Shane Hill nursing home. He was born on August 27, 1939 in Celina, to the late William and Ruby (Johns) Hoenie. On September 17, 1961, he married Janet K. Menchhofer who passed away on January 26, 2007. He is survived by his three children, son Jeff (Sue) Hoenie of Celina, daughters Robin Hammond (Rick Krizan) of Medina, and Carol (Bret) Carpenter of Johnstown, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and brother Donald (Terrie) Hoenie of Clarksville, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents and a step-mother Eleanor Johns-Hoenie. Marvin was a graduate of Celina High School with the class of 1958. He proudly served his country, in the United States Navy, from 1958 – 1962. Marvin was employed by Crown Equipment for 42 years until he retired then he worked for over 12 years at the Celina Walmart. Marvin was a member of the Celina American Legion Post #210, Mercer County Sportsman’s Association, Celina Moose Lodge and the Grand Lake Photography Club. He had attended St. Johns Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, photography, stamp collecting, and bowling. Marvin also enjoyed following NASCAR and attended many races with his son Jeff wearing his Harry Gant and Jeff Gordon T-shirts. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Marvin’s services are in the care of the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home.
