James Maier Obituary

James Lee Maier, age 84 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Oct.25, 2021 at the ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born on April 8, 1937 in Rockford, Ohio to the late George J. and Matilda R. (Leugers) Maier. On July 4, 1959 he married Shirley Ann (Bertke) Maier, who died July 24, 2014. He is survived by his children Daniel L. (Susan) Maier of Celina, Brenda L. Maier of Dallas, TX, Kimberly S. Barhorst of Wapakoneta, Ronda Westover of Celina, and Shawn (Lacey Trumbull) Maier of Celina. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law Richard (Patricia) Maier of Celina, Dallas (Linda) Maier of Celina, Phyllis Maier of Celina, sister Mary Jo Colson of Celina, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jerry Bertke of Ft. Recovery, Lou Bertke of Tremont, IL, Melvin (Karen) Bertke of Ft. Recovery, Judith Homan of Ft. Recovery, and his loving dog Goldie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Robert Maier, and sister and brothers-in-law Ruth (Cletus) Stoepfel, Dick Colson, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Leroy (Georgia) Bertke, Wally Bertke, Ernie Homan, Pat Bertke, Kathy Bertke, and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. He was formerly employed as a machinist and a press operator at AVCO New Idea in Coldwater, Parker Hannifin, and a janitor at OMNI Manufacturing both in St. Marys.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home, with Fr. Kenneth Schnipke C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the Swamp College Cemetery in Celina. Friends and Family may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 and an hour before services on Thursday at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home.
