Jerry Hiatt Obituary

Jerry Kent Hiatt, age 90, of Celina, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, after a two year struggle to conquer congestive heart failure. He was born on July 16, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Joseph G. and Marjorie Mae (Downs) Hiatt. On December 10, 1955 he married Carolyn Suzette Baker, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Lorie M. (Warren) Hiatt-Sluss of New Paris. He has left behind two loving grandchildren Erin M. (Stephen) Truska of Cary, N.C. and Daniel J. Hiatt of Columbus, and two great grandchildren Roan Truska and Bennett Truska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son David K. Hiatt.
Jerry graduated from White Fish High School in Racine, Wisconsin, with the Class of 1949 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Bowling Green State University. He furthered his education at the William and Mary University and received his Master's in Aerospace Engineering from the Syracuse University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. He was Honorably Discharged as a corporal and the Chief Radar Operator of the MOS #1617.
In 1997 he retired from his position as Vice President of the marketing department, for Leland Aerospace Products in Dayton, after thirty-three years of service.
He was a member of the Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, the Mercer County Elks, the Celina Moose, the Celina Eagles, Celina American Legion Post #210, Celina V. F. W. #5713, Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was a member of both the Clay Township and the Mercer County Historical Societies.

Jerry's wishes were to have a Memorial Service at a later date for his family. Jerry's arrangements are in the care of the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Nation Center 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231.
